1. What is Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security to your login process. After entering your password, you’ll confirm your identity using a code from an authentication app on your phone or device. 


You can use the Microsoft Authenticator app, Google Authenticator, or any other trusted authentication app of your choice. 

2. Why is Madaster introducing MFA?

At Madaster, keeping your data secure is one of our top priorities. With many stakeholders accessing and collaborating on our platform, MFA helps ensure your information remains protected. Even if your password is compromised, MFA makes it much more difficult for anyone else to access your account. 

We’re implementing MFA in line with recognised security standards to maintain a secure and reliable platform for all users. 

3. What if I lose the phone or device I use for MFA?

Using a company-managed account? Please contact your internal IT department, as they can reset your MFA and help restore access. 

Using a personal account? Email our support team at service@madaster.co.uk. We’ll verify your identity and help you set up MFA again on a new device. 

4. What if I don’t want to use my personal phone for MFA?

That’s completely fine. You can install the authenticator app on a company tablet, work mobile, or any approved device that allows app installations. During login, you’ll be guided step-by-step through the setup with a QR code.

5. Does MFA apply to read-only users?

Yes – MFA is required for all Madaster users, including read-only users. This ensures consistent and comprehensive security across the entire platform. 

6. How do I set up MFA?

Once MFA is activated, you’ll see a QR code when logging in. Here’s how to get started: 

  1. Install the app 
    Download Microsoft Authenticator, or use any preferred authentication app. 
  1. Add your account 
    Open the app, tap “+”, select “Work or school account”, and scan the QR code. 
  1. Scan the QR code 
    Log into Madaster on your computer and scan the QR code shown during setup. 
  1. Enter the code 
    Your app will generate a 6-digit code—enter this to complete setup. 
  1. You’re ready to go! 
    Next time you log in, approve the sign-in via the app or enter your code.

7. What if I enter the wrong verification code?

No worries—codes refresh every 30 seconds. Just try again using the latest code. If you get locked out, contact support and we’ll help you regain access. 

8. Do I need to pay for additional user accounts now that MFA is required?

Yes, adding new users may come with additional costs. For details, contact your Madaster representative or our support team to explore your options. 

9. How do I manage access for users who previously shared one account?

As an administrator, you can assign individual rights to new users via the admin dashboard. Need guidance? We can provide documentation or personally walk you through the process. 

10. Are any exceptions allowed for MFA?

No – MFA is required for all users, in all countries. It’s part of our commitment to providing a safe, secure experience for everyone.
