Madaster is proud to announce British Land as its newest partner. British Land, one of the UK’s largest property development companies, is joining Madaster’s mission to transform the built environment by enabling more sustainable and circular practices in building design, development, and management.
Matt Webster, Head of Sustainability at British Land, shared his enthusiasm for this new partnership and outlined the company’s motivations:
“With our materials passport work, we’re trying to apply a digital layer to the instructions for a building both now and in the future. The Madaster platform allows us to store and capture key data in a useful format for future generations.”
The collaboration with Madaster is part of British Land’s broader strategy to incorporate sustainability into all aspects of its operations. This includes a focus on reimagining existing buildings and exploring innovative approaches to material reuse to help them achieve their embodied carbon targets.
British Land is currently utilizing the Madaster platform for several key office development projects, including 1 Broadgate. This new partnership builds on the earlier pilot in which Madaster was used to create a material passport for the development at the design stage, resulting in a BREEAM innovation credit. British Land and their development team are now creating an as-built passport that will capture the information required for planning the repair, reuse, or recycling of elements in the future.
Madaster is excited to partner with British Land and support their efforts to promote reuse in the real estate sector.
