ARCADIS PARTNERING WITH MADASTER
Amsterdam, The Netherlands, 5 June 2018
Today, at the Provada real estate trade fair, globally operating civil engineering company Arcadis and Madaster Services signed a partner agreement. Arcadis, thus, is contributing to Madaster’s further development. Madaster is an independent public platform that generates material passports with the aim of eliminating waste, worldwide. The platform can be used by private individuals, companies and government authorities, and is developed by Madaster Services, under the supervision of the Madaster Foundation.
Madaster functions as an online library that documents materials and buildings, similar to the registration of property ownership and land division at a land registry. All users of Madaster can generate a material passport for their buildings. A material passport contains information about the quality and origins of materials and their current location. This makes them easier to recover and reuse, in cases of renovation and restoration. Buildings, thus, become documented ‘storage units’ of materials.
‘Collaboration with a globally operating civil engineering firm like Arcadis will promote the use of the material passport, both nationally and internationally. Arcadis offers platform users valuable information on digital innovation and cost management. This may considerably help the making of certain strategic considerations.’ Martijn Oostenrijk, Director of Madaster Services
‘Sustainability is important to Arcadis, because we wish to help ensure that the world remains liveable, also for future generations’, according to Niels van Geenhuizen, responsible for sustainability at Arcadis. ‘We are always in search of the most sustainable solutions for our clients. Part of that is to reuse materials and think about future material use. For this reason, we are particularly enthusiastic about our collaboration with Madaster. It is the next step towards further sustainability of the sector.’
